Call for Proposals – Overview

The Vision of Children Foundation seeks to fund innovative research projects focused on finding a cure for Ocular Albinism (OA), Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA) and other hereditary vision disorders. We invite researchers to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) for consideration in our upcoming grant cycle. The LOI is the initial step in the application process and should provide a concise overview of your proposed project.

Eligibility Requirements:

This request for applications is open globally. International applicants are invited to apply. Eligible applicants include researchers from accredited academic institutions, research hospitals, and nonprofit research organizations. The proposed research must directly contribute to advancing our understanding of hereditary vision disorders.

Application Process:

LOIs can be submitted at any time until March 1st 2025. Researchers interested in applying for funding must first submit an LOI. Applicants are welcome to follow up on the submission of their LOI to confirm that it was received.

Research Priorities:

The Vision of Children Foundation is dedicated to funding projects that advance scientific knowledge and clinical approaches to curing hereditary vision disorders. Specifically, we are seeking research that:

  • Aims to improve knowledge about the genetic mechanism underlying vision disorders, particularly Ocular Albinism and Oculocutaneous Albinism.

  • Develops therapeutic interventions that are effective and safe.

  • Pursues translational research that brings laboratory findings closer to clinical applications.

  • Utilizes innovative methodologies that offer fresh perspectives on long-standing scientific challenges.

Funding Considerations:

Projects should demonstrate:

  • A clear alignment with our mission and focus areas.

  • A potential for high-impact results, both in terms of scientific advancement and patient outcomes.

  • A well-established team of researchers with relevant expertise.

Funding Available:

Up to $100,000 per year for two years, per project for ongoing or expanded research in hereditary vision disorders, especially with a focus on Ocular Albinism (OA), Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA), and similar disease models.

These grants support our mission to cure hereditary blindness and vision disorders. Applicants should align their research with our goal of advancing a cure for genetic vision disorders.

Key Dates:

March 1, 2025: LOI Form Due

April 2025: Notification of Invitation for Full Proposal

June 9, 2025: Full Proposal Due

August 2025: Grants Awarded
